Small in size, big in power: Atlanta-based Falcomm releases new semiconductor product
Atlanta-based Falcomm made a splash back in 2023, landing a $4 million seed round and becoming a semiconductor startup to watch at Techcrunch Disrupt. Since then the team has been busy building out its team and its lab off Peachtree Street in Atlanta’s Midtown neighborhood. Now, the startup is ready to make headlines again with the release of its next product, a power amplifier called the FCM1401.

Falcomm releases first power amplifier product
Every new generation of cellular network technology aims to boost wireless data rates significantly. As data consumption increases exponentially, the energy required by the network also rises, even with improvements in energy efficiency per bit. Falcomm, a fabless semiconductor startup out of Atlanta, has sought to provide the next big leap in technology that will drastically improve energy efficiency over the state of the art. As part of their efforts, Falcomm has released their first power amplifier product, the FCM1401.

Semiconductor Company Falcomm Raises $4M in Seed Funding to Advance Ultra-Efficient Power Amplifiers, Hires Industry Leaders
Falcomm is built on breakthroughs made over six years in the lab of founder and CEO Edgar Garay to revolutionize the power amplifier, a semiconductor found in devices from satellites to IoT to cellphones, that conditions and blasts the 1s and 0s from software through an antenna. Falcomm’s Dual-Drive PA combines ultra-efficient performance with an architecture that lends itself to production at scale.

Power amplifier startup Falcomm to close $4M, taking on Qualcomm and Broadcom
Falcomm, a semiconductor startup based out of Atlanta, Georgia, is working on a new type of power amplifier to cut energy consumption in hardware ranging from Wi-Fi networks and satellites to consumer products like smartphones and IoTs. The power amplifier, in the words of Edgar Garay, co-founder and CEO of Falcomm, is “the device that goes before the antenna in a radio” and is “responsible for conditioning and blasting the signal through the antenna.”
